Dearborn, MI., May 7, 2012 – The AWS Weldmex-FABTECH-Metalform Mexico Expo broke exhibit space and attendance records for the 4th consecutive year. Exhibit space of 67,900 net sq. ft. increased 32% and attendance of 10,452 increased 33% over the 2011 exposition. The event is now the largest manufacturing show in Latin America and continues to support manufacturing growth and meet the demand for new equipment in the Latin American market.

The positive outlook for Mexican manufacturing including automotive, aerospace, appliance, electronics, construction and infra-structure, petro chemical was evident at this year’s event. The show featured 315 exhibitors from North America, Asia, Europe, UK and India looking at Mexico for access to the US Marketplace. Several exhibitors sold machines right off the floor. “We sold a press in the last hour of the show”, commented Lee Ellard with Stamtec Press Company. “It was an unbelievable show, said Ellard.”

“Exhibitors were impressed with the quantity and quality of attendees who attended. Visitors came from all areas of Mexico and South America to find the right equipment to meet their production needs. Mexico City represents a major Latin American destination for buyers and we saw that in our attendance last week.” commented Mark Hoper, FABTECH Mexico Show Manager. “Throughout the course of the show attendees expressed that the event was the place to be to see the latest technology, experience live equipment demonstrations and connect face-to-face with suppliers who offered solutions to help them achieve better results.” added Hoper. “We brought our entire buying team”, said Arturo Porteny, Director of Operations, Caterpillar Mexico. “We requisitioned 8 machines from Laser, Welding and Automation.” “It was the best show we have ever attended in Mexico.”

The combined event rotates each year between two principal business cities, Monterrey and Mexico City. Together, AWS Weldmex, FABTECH Mexico and Metalform Mexico showcase technologies from welding and cutting products, thermal spray, metal finishing and safety equipment, metalforming products, including tool and die, metal stamping, forming and assembly, bending and fabrication products, including laser and plasma cutting, coil processing, roll forming, plate and structural fabricating, saws and cut-off machines, tooling, press brakes, shears, punching, and tube and pipe equipment.

The next event is scheduled for May 7-9, 2013 in Monterrey, Mexico.
